Trains, Blogs and Good Omens

June 18th, 2008 Posted in goals, personal

This morning I woke to this news, which I took as great omen to create the first post on my blog.

Why is some guy riding a train for the better part of a day a good omen? Because Heath Tully was doing the tremendous feat of train riding as part of a big list of goals he wants to achieve.

Conquering the Melbourne metro train system for 18 hours to cover the entire network. The 714km (443 miles) journey was the 32nd goal Heath has completed from a list of 183 that the 25 year old hopes to achieve before he turns 30.

Like Heath I too have a great big list of goals to achieve, and one of those was to grab my own domain (billriddell.com) and create a blog on it.

My timeline is longer than Heath’s, though my list is always growing. Once this posts goes live I will have completed 16 of 127 goals. More about that to come.

So here goes folks.

Though you will learn more about me as this site progresses, essentially I am a 22 year old living in Bendigo, Australia, beginning a career as a freelance writer (journalist and blogger) after a stint as a staff journalist for a sports magazine.

I’m also a budding entrepreneur with an interest in internet marketing which you will see more of soon. I’ve a few years of studying public relations and marketing under my belt and some great work experience to go with it.

I’m an amateur car racer and recently began a health and fitness regime after too many years of bad health.

Reading is as much of a passion for me as writing and the travel bug has possessed me after my first overseas jaunt last year.

Thanks for reading, I hope you stick around.

Cheers,

Bill Riddell

P.s. I’m now going to join the world record attempt for most downloaded software in 24 hours by getting the new Firefox 3.

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging Bill! I think I may need to make a list like this myself!

    Hi Bill,

I am honoured to get a mention in your blog’s first post – cheers.

Glad you liked the goal, and best of luck with your 127 (and counting) list of goals.

    Regards,
    Heath Tully
